RECENT HAPPENINGS

SIA PROGRAM IN BEIJING,SHANGHAI AND GUANGZHOU

IN JUNE 2016, visited SIA- Student is Amazing, an educational program  for high school and graduate students interested in attending art schools outside of China with programs in cities including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. I reviewed some work and checked out the exhibition of 2016 BA Degree program. I visited these cities, providing lectures on my work, RISD as an institution, our Illustration Department, and providing a sample portfolio as an example of the kind of elements we look for for students applying to RISD.  I also reviewed portfolios and sketchbooks, showed samples of my books and did hands on workshops at each location on both color and character design. I showed them my Lynda.com courses, including my latest Character Development + Design https://www.lynda.com/Illustration-tutorials/Character-Development-From-Concept-Finish/408229-2.html  I did a lecture at Beijing Institute of Graphic Arts, presenting to the School of Art Design for a large crowd. I reviewed some work and checked out the exhibition of 2016 BA Degree program. The students were passionate, talented and VERY interested in RISD!  I was treated with reverence and deep respect by all of the students and faculty- it was an incredible experience!!
